Miss Churchill's Class - Maths: Add and subtract to and from a 3-digit number bridging 100 | Oak National Academy
This lesson bridging over a 100 boundary. You have been brilliant at this, when bridging a ten boundary, and bridging over 100. Remember to use your number bonds knowledge!
Follow the steps of the lesson, starting with the introduction, starter quiz, lesson video and exit quiz using the link above. Marvellous mistakes help us learn!
Miss Bedford’s Class - Maths: https://www.thenational.academy/pupils/programmes/maths-primary-year-3/units/measures-mass-and-capacity/lessons/understanding-capacity-and-volume/overview
So far, in our 'mass and capacity unit you have been learning how to use scales to measure and compare the mass of objects in kilograms and grams.Today’s lesson starts to look at capacity and volume.
The Key learning points in this lesson are:
·Different containers have different capacities - they hold a different amount of liquid.
·We can use the scale on the measuring container to tell us the volume of liquid in the container.
·The volume of liquids in different containers can be compared using the scale.
Using the link, follow the steps of the lesson, starting with the introduction, starter quiz, lesson video and exit quiz using the link above.
Alternatively, when you have finished watching the video, you could explore containers around your home that have different capacities and different volumes of liquids in them.
You need to have a good understanding of the difference between capacity and volume.
Capacity is the whole amount of liquid that a container can hold.
Volume is the actual amount of liquid in the container.
English: This will be a live 45-minute lesson at 10:30am with your class teacher, where we will focus on ‘a’ and ‘an’. Please follow the TEAMS link that was emailed out to you on Wednesday. For pupils attending this lesson, please have ready paper/notebook and a pencil/pen and two ‘post-it note’ sized cards/pieces of paper – one with a large ‘a’ and one with a large ‘an’ written on.
POWERPOINT CAN BE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. :)
Reading: Today, we are practising our comprehension skills, by reading and answering questions about British Birds that we might spot in our gardens. This will tie in nicely to the UK Garden Bird Watch project that is currently being advertised, which takes place at the end of this month. The file, which can be edited in Word, is at the bottom of this page.
Art: This half term, we will be exploring ‘sculptures’ in art, using folding, twisting and joining techniques with card and paper.Follow the link below to watch a short video about making a paper sculpture. If you have resources handy, you could have a go yourself today or over the weekend and bring them into school on Monday.

If you haven't got these resources and still want to do some art, you could follow this link below to ‘Rob Biddulph’ DRAW WITH ROB and practise your drawing and shading skills, using techniques and rules of shading that we learnt last term, with pictures of your choice.

TT ROCKSTARS, NESSY AND READING
Just a quick reminder that TT Rockstars is a great resource to practise and consolidate times tables and is accessible to all via your ‘mylogin’ code.
For any of you who access NESSY, this resource is also available.
Please can all Year 3s continue to practise your reading accuracy and fluency, reading a chapter a day of your school book or a book from home. We will be collecting reading records in on Monday.

Miss Churchill’s Class - Maths: https://www.thenational.academy/pupils/programmes/maths-primary-year-3/units/representing-3-digit-numbers-comparing-and-positioning-on-number-lines/lessons/use-known-facts-to-add-and-subtract-to-and-from-multiples-of-100/overview
As we near the end of our unit, we are really checking our understanding of three-digit-numbers by working up to and from multiples of 100.
Follow the steps of the lesson, starting with the introduction, starter quiz, lesson video and exit quiz using the link above. Marvellous mistakes help us learn!
Miss Bedford’s Class - Maths: https://www.thenational.academy/pupils/programmes/maths-primary-year-3/units/measures-mass-and-capacity/lessons/measure-mass-in-whole-kilograms-and-grams/overview
Continuing with our ‘mass and capacity’ unit, todays lesson follows on from yesterday and focuses on measuring the mass of objects in kilograms and grams.
You will need to continue to remember our stem sentences from last term:
There are ten 10s in one hundred
There are five 20s in one hundred
There are four 25s in one hundred
There are two 50s in one hundred
Use your knowledge of these stem sentences to read the scales in todays lesson, as each scale will show different intervals, but now, you are learning how to do this with kg and g.
A gram (g) is about the mass (weight) of a paperclip and a kilogram (kg) is about the mass of a pineapple!
Follow the steps of the lesson, starting with the introduction, starter quiz, lesson video and exit quiz using the link above. Listen and watch carefully – use the ‘Power of Yet’!
English (both classes): This will be a live 45-minute lesson at 10:30am with your class teacher, where we will focus on prepositions. Please follow the TEAMS link that was emailed out to you yesterday.
Please find the link to the game that we were going to play. I hope that you find it useful to test your prepositions knowledge.

Sit back and relax in the warmth, while enjoying this beautiful picture book by Grahame Baker-Smith called ‘The Rhythm of the Rain’. In this story, we meet Isaac, who empties his little jar of water into a stream and follows its journey through the country and city until it joins the ocean and continues its journey across the world.
Science: https://www.thenational.academy/pupils/programmes/science-primary-year-3/units/simple-forces-including-magnets/lessons/contact-forces/overview
This follows on from our science lesson that we started on Monday for our new unit ‘Forces and Magnets’. On Monday, we discussed ‘pushes and pulls’ as types of forces. You are now going to apply this understanding by establishing whether the push or pull is a ‘contact’ or ‘non-contact’ force.
IT SAYS THAT EQUIPMENT AND ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED: this is completely optional and is a suggestion to make Task C practical. The equipment is not necessary to complete the learning.
You are welcome to try the starter quiz, but some of the questions are not suited to where we are in our learning journey. Please remember to pause the video to try Task A, B and C before the answers are revealed. Task C can be found at the bottom of this page, where it can be drawn on in Word, for example, or printed off. Thank you for trying your best!
