YEAR 5

YEAR 5

Remote learning for Friday 10th January

Mrs Caslaw's Class

Live Lesson - 9.45am link on the email from Ivy Bank admin. Today we will be doing a couple of Mastering Number sessions. It would be very useful if you could have a piece of paper and a dark felt tip so that you can write you answers and show them on the screen (like a whiteboard!)

Maths – We are going to move onto unit 8, lesson 1

Lesson: Multiply a 3-digit by a 1-digit number using partitioning | KS2 Maths | Oak National Academy

If you scroll down the page, there is a video to watch which can be paused in the relevant places in order to complete the tasks. Remember that you also have TTRockstars you can access.

Writing (Editing) - Please spend some time completing, your first draft of the 'How to Build a Snowman' instructions which was set on Wednesday (see Wednesday's email if needed). If you have not started this, please make a start. If you have already completed this, spend the time polishing (in purple if you have it,) checking for any errors in spelling, punctuation and any opportunity to up-level your work. When we return next week, we will use these with intention to publish, so anything you do now will save you time then!

Art – Today is the perfect time for you to get a bit creative so I would like you to begin the first part of an art lesson.

Lesson: World on the Window - Window Hangings | KS2 Art and design | Oak National Academy

Scroll down the page to the video. I would like you to take some time to complete the warm-up activity where you will need to scour the house for some interesting objects and try to make a creative arrangement with them. You could photograph the result before sketching it. Remember to be inventive and look at everyday objects from a different perspective. Then continue to watch the video until around 8 minutes 50. I would love to see what you create so please email them over or bring them in on Monday.

Mrs Jones and Mrs Thompson's Class

Live Lesson- 9.45am link on the email from Ivy Bank admin.

Today we will be doing part two of our Myths and Legends  (if you can download and print the text from yesterday's email in advance, that would helpful, but no problem if you can't as it will be on the screen again.)

That will be followed by Mastering Number. It would be very useful if you could have a piece of paper and a dark felt tip so that you can write you answers and show them on the screen (like a whiteboard!)

Maths

The next lesson in the sequence is year 5/ maths/unit 8 /lesson 2: multiply a 3 digit by a 1 digit number with no regroups. As with each lesson, if you are behind in the sequence please don't jump a lesson i.e. make sure you have done lesson 1 first, even if it means you don't complete them all. The link is below
